Man charged with 2nd-degree murder in Oromocto First Nation homicide

A 38-year-old man from Burton, N.B., has been charged with second-degree murder after a woman was found dead on Saturday.

A 38-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a homicide at Oromocto First Nation on Saturday.

Oromocto RCMP responded to a call at a residence at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. When officers arrived, they discovered a 54-year-old woman from the community was dead.

A man from Burton, a community about 10 minutes away, was arrested later Saturday.

The man had a provincial court appearance on Sunday via tele-remand and was charged with second-degree murder. He is scheduled to return to court on Monday.

The investigation is being led by New Brunswick RCMP's major crime unit.
