Four nurse practitioners will work at health care clinics in Fredericton and Saint John to help reduce the number of people on the registry that helps match doctorless patients with family doctors who are able to accept them into their practice.
The province says the initiative will remove 2,000 New Brunswickers from Patient Connect NB and increase access to primary care for those currently without a family doctor.
In Fredericton, a nurse practitioner will work in the Fredericton Downtown Community Health Centre, Noreen-Richard Health Centre and a to-be-named clinic. A nurse practitioner will also work in a clinic in Saint John. The name of that clinic has not been disclosed.
