The winter storm that blew through New Brunswick a few days ago appears to have caused a number of new power outages this weekend.

More than 1,300 customers were without electricity as of 1 p.m. Most of the outages were in the Moncton area.

Meghan Gerrish, a spokeswoman for NB Power, said the new outages could be related to a recent winter storm.

"After the nor'easter that blew through, we’re seeing some remnants from that," she said Sunday afternoon.

"Crews are out and about just trying to clean up leftover branches that decided to come down now or that are weighted down."

Gerrish said most of the outages should be resolved by 4 p.m. Sunday.

A storm Wednesday dumped 35 centimetres of snow on parts of the province. More than 48,000 of NB Power's customers were knocked offline.
