RCMP seek public's help with 7-year-old investigation into disappearance of Mario Bergeron

New Brunswick RCMP are asking for the public's help with a seven-year-old investigation into the suspected murder of a Hells Angels' member from Quebec City.

Mario Bergeron, 43, of Quebec City, disappeared in April 2008. RCMP believe he was murdered and his remains were disposed of in the Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska, N.B., area. (RCMP)
Mario Bergeron, who was known to police as a full patch member of the biker gang, went missing in April 2008, when he was 43 years old.

RCMP believe he was murdered in connection with organized crime and that his body was disposed of in the Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska area, possibly with the use of heavy equipment, Supt. Daniel Nowlan said during a news conference in Edmundston on Friday.

"At this point in the ongoing investigation, we believe there may be someone out there who might have information that can assist in leading us to where Mario Bergeron's remains are buried," he said.

RCMP have already searched the area, with the assistance of the Edmundston Police Force and Grand Falls Police Force, but to no avail, said Nowlan.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area during the period in question, or noticed heavy equipment being used in an area that was not under construction, to contact them, he said.

"We firmly believe Bergeron's murder was related to organized crime and there is no threat to the general public," Nowlan stressed.

Although police have suspects, who are involved in organized crime, no charges have been laid yet, he said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the New Brunswick RCMP's major crime unit.
