Moncton Hospital family planning clinic opens

The new family planning clinic announced by the Gallant government in November opened in Moncton Monday.

When announced, the province said the clinic would remove barriers for women seeking abortions. The commitment included enabling doctors at the Moncton Hospital to perform the procedure.

Horizon Health announced today the clinic is open. Services provided include unplanned pregnancy counseling, access to all available options of care, including abortions, and contraception counseling.

A combined team of physicians, nurses and a social worker will provide counseling and treatments to patients. 

Horizon Health says services will be provided with or without a doctor's referral.
