Moncton High School move delayed by blizzard

Moncton High School students will have to wait a couple of extra days to move into their new building.

Students were supposed to start classes on Friday but blizzard has pushed first day to Tuesday

Moncton High School students will have to wait a couple of extra days to move into their new building and begin their second semester.

Students were supposed to begin classes at the new school in Royal Oaks on Friday but on Wednesday night parents were told this week's blizzard has forced another delay.

"We are looking forward to students arriving to their new school and beginning our second semester of classes," the notice to parents says.

"Although we had originally planned to have classes begin for students this Friday, the two days lost due to inclement weather has caused delays in moving our equipment and having classrooms and labs ready to receive students in a safe and inviting environment."

Moncton High students will begin their first day of classes in the new school on Feb. 3.

Students have been out of class since the last day of exams last week.

The notice says that even if there is another snow day between now and Tuesday, the move will go ahead this time as planned.

Originally students were supposed to move in to the new Moncton High School in September 2014 but construction delays forced them to spend the first semester in the old building.
