Larry's Gulch review findings will 'absolutely' be made public

Premier Brian Gallant says an internal review of bookings and guests at the government's fishing lodge, Larry's Gulch, will "absolutely" be made public.

The review was ordered after allegations were raised about alterations to a 2013 list that at one point included the name of a Brunswick News editor as a guest at an NB Liquor outing.

That editor, Murray Guy, of the Moncton Times & Transcript, has since resigned as assistant managing editor, and Al Hogan, the managing editor, "is no longer employed by Brunswick News."

Tourism Minister Bill Fraser said earlier this week that an internal review would look into the alleged list alterations, but did not say if the findings would be made public.

Gallant confirmed on Thursday they will tabled in the legislature.

"We're hoping it will be in the next couple of weeks at the very least and we actually have the expectation that it could be done in the next couple of days," he told reporters.

"We certainly want to be able to give it the time necessary to be able to do a proper review."

The province has already said a new policy will be in place for Larry's Gulch this summer. Any government requests for holding events at the lodge must focus on job creation and economic development in order to be approved.

In addition, information on bookings will be made public.

Gallant says his government will also be looking at the future of Larry's Gulch, as some people are calling for the lodge to sold.

But the government won't make a decision about selling it based on this week's controversy, he said. The government will look at overall merits.
