Who's in the spotlight at the Fredericton Playhouse this month?

The Fredericton Playhouse offers an eclectic mix of entertainment on the Spotlight Series Stage and the Kidstage Series this month.

The Fredericton Playhouse Spotlight Series and Kidstage Series invites some of the most exciting artists touring today to the Playhouse stage, offering East Coast favourites, internationally acclaimed ensembles, up-and-coming musicians, innovative dance and circus shows, hilarious comedy performances, inspiring theatre pieces and much more.

Here is the lineup for October:

Spotlight Series

MOMENTUM OF ISOLATION - Monday, Oct. 7, 7:30 p.m.
Momentum of Isolation, by B.C.-based company Radical System Art, explores the timely themes of digital existences, shifting values, and social isolation for a thoughtful and kinetic show that aims to remind viewers how much we need each other. Their dance, theatre and martial arts combine with interactive technology and design to create impactful performances. By weaving movement, sound and imagery together, they create a universal language that voices what can't be said with words.

LEMON BUCKET ORKESTRA - Friday, Oct. 18, 7:30 p.m.
Lemon Bucket Orkestra is a 13-piece band comprised of world-class musicians wielding an eclectic collection of instruments, resulting in a musical mashup of Eastern European folk with Western interpretation. Equal parts exhilarating precision and reckless abandon, LBO's live shows are a truly immersive experience ranging from the ecstatic to the cathartic and all points in between. Over the past 13 years they have performed all over the world from New Zealand to Slovakia, Quebec City and Toronto, and now they're returning to Fredericton for the first time in nine years.

THE CHINA SYNDROME - Thursday, Oct. 24, 7:30 p.m.
A film screening of the 1979 classic disaster-thriller The China Syndrome (starring Jane Fonda, Jack Lemmon, and Michael Douglas) accompanied by members of Symphony New Brunswick and Resonance New Music performing an original score, composed by New Brunswick's Andrew Reed Miller.

TRANS-CANADA HIGHWAYMEN - Friday, Oct. 25, 7:30 p.m.
This all-Canadian supergroup features longtime legends of the radio waves: Moe Berg (The Pursuit of Happiness), Chris Murphy (Sloan), Craig Northey (Odds) and Steven Page (ex-Barenaked Ladies). Each band member takes turns singing their A-List hits, so buckle up for an evening filled with some of your favourite Can-Rock classics. This supergroup started playing shows together as TCH in 2017. At the shows, each take turns singing their own hit songs, while those not singing lead become the backing band for whoever is singing.

THE RETURNS DEPARTMENT - THE KIF-KIF SISTERS - Sunday, Oct. 20, 2 p.m.
Welcome to the Returns Department, where family friendly slapstick comedy meets world class puppetry. The Kif-Kif sisters inspect an ever-revolving conveyor belt of broken goods and try their best not to play with the goods. What could go wrong?! The Returns Department combines physical theatre, circus, robotics and puppetry. There is a French performance at noon.
