Charges laid in SUV-motorcycle collision at Fredericton roundabout
Man and woman who were on a motorcycle remain in hospital with 'serious injuries'
A 40-year-old Fredericton man is facing six charges in connection with a collision between an SUV and a motorcycle at a roundabout on Sunday night.
Robert Drew Shannon was charged Tuesday with two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm, two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, one count of breach of a judge's undertaking, and one count under the Motor Vehicle Act of driving while suspended, Fredericton police spokesperson Alycia Bartlett said in a statement.
The man and woman who were travelling on the motorcycle remain in hospital with "serious injuries," Bartlett said on Wednesday afternoon. No other details were available.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges against Shannon are still being considered, she said.
Shannon remains remanded in custody and is scheduled to return to court on Friday afternoon for a bail hearing.
The collision occurred at the traffic circle at Cliffe Street and Two Nations Crossing just after 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, said Bartlett. Police, firefighters and paramedics responded.
Shannon, the lone occupant of the SUV, was also taken to hospital and later released.
