Former N.B. priest faces another sex charge
Charles Picot involved with Catholic Church in Montreal, despite past charges
A priest who worked in Dalhousie, N.B., in the 1970s has been charged with indecent assault against a teenage boy in 1978.
Dalhousie RCMP laid the charge Monday.
Charles Picot, who is in his 60s, will enter a plea in May, said RCMP Cpl. Allain LeBlanc.
Picot left the diocese of Bathurst in 1993. He is not a practising priest
This is the third time Picot has faced sex-related charges. In 1993, he served seven months in jail for two counts of sexual assault and one of indecent assault.
Last year, he was charged with another count of indecent assault dating back to 1975. The alleged victims were teenage boys.
Picot has pleaded not guilty in that case and his trial before a judge alone is scheduled to start in Campbellton on March 2, LeBlanc said.
Anyone who knows of any similar offences should contact RCMP, LeBlanc said.
