David Alward unveils full 'Say Yes' platform for PCs
Alward says Liberal Leader Brian Gallant promising 'fake gold'
David Alward unveiled the full Progressive Conservative Party platform Friday as the election hit the half-way point.
The platform focuses on positive messages about the benefits of natural resource development — particularly about shale gas development — and the launch event also included a number of negative messages about Liberals.
I believe New Brunswickers are smarter than Brian Gallant [and] know all he is promising is fake gold.- David Alward
Speaking in Saint John, Alward presented his party as the only choice for voters who want to see natural gas development.
"Do we want great jobs here at home? Do we want our kids working here in the communities that they love? Do we want New Brunswick to benefit from the best education and care in the world? Our answer is absolutely yes,” he said.
The “Say Yes” platform described prosperity as being around the corner, if voters embrace gas development.
Alward spoke against Liberal Leader Brian Gallant.
"I believe New Brunswickers are smarter than Brian Gallant [and] know all he is promising is fake gold,” he said.
The platform includes a chart the party said compares the cost of Liberal and Conservative campaign promises. It is interspersed with several pointed personal attacks by Alward directly on Gallant.
"Brian Gallant is choosing to blow, blow, blow, the finances of New Brunswick out of the water. He's choosing to bribe New Brunswickers with their own money,” he said.
