Tried and true family recipes
We've all heard the legends of old family recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation. They're written on the backs of flour bags and scraps of paper, now hidden away in a safe spot and only come out for the holidays.
Information Morning Fredericton host Jeanne Armstrong spent weeks hunting down some of those treasured recipes. She spoke to audience members about everything from homemade German egg nog to Syrian eggplant casserole.
For the Love of Music: Holiday House
A group of talented musicians came together in St. John's recently to celebrate the holidays with special live performances and stories.
There's music from Ukrainian-Canadian speed-folk band Kubasonics, electronic duo Cuerpos, traditional singer-songwriter Brad Tuck and country singer Zay Nova, among others, as well as conversations with Kubasonics bandleader Brian Cherwick about traditions during the holidays.
Take in the sights of the season
Go take a look at some Christmas lights. If you're looking for some socially-distanced activities over the holidays, look no further. Going for a drive around town or taking an evening stroll through the neighbourhood to see these cherished holiday decorations is an excellent way to get out of the house and into the festive spirit.
Take in the sounds of the season
The East Coast Music Hour recently presented a bittersweet reprise of the 2014 Jerry Granelli Trio concert of the music from A Charlie Brown Christmas. While the broadcast has become a seasonal tradition, this year it was a little different, as sadly, Jerry passed away this past July.
Granelli was a true veteran of the jazz scene. Over the past 50 years, he played with just about everyone: Sly Stone, Lou Rawls, The Grateful Dead, Bill Evans, and many more.
And for the last 20 of those years he called Atlantic Canada his home.
