The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning the public about a brand of frozen chicken strips.

JD Sweid Foods (2013) Ltd., is recalling Hampton House brand chicken strips from the marketplace, due to an error in the preparation instructions on the label.

The oven preparation instructions on the label should read: "Preheat to 204°C (400°F)."

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CIFA) website says the product "may contain harmful bacteria that might cause food illnesses."

The affected chicken strips were sold in 1.5 kilogram boxes and have best–before dates from Jan. 20, 2018 to Feb. 11, 2018.

They were sold in New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador.

In a statement, CFIA said there have been no reports of illnesses associated with this product.

The agency is conducting a food safety investigation, which could lead to the recall of other products.

"If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, call your doctor," the CFIA website said.

"Check to see if you have recalled product in your home. Recalled product should be returned to the store where it was purchased."
