Rare trading cards grabbed in Moncton store robbery
Thief targeted display of rare cards, one worth $6,700
A Moncton store specializing in collectable trading cards, games and comic books was robbed early Friday morning of some rare and valuable cards.
The Comic Hunter at 467 Main St. was broken into around 4 a.m. by a single robber, all captured on the store's security cameras.
The thief smashed a window in the front door, triggering the alarm system, and is seen going to a display case filled with rare, pricey cards.
Police and store employees arrived quickly after the alarm was triggered, but the robber had left.
The person had targeted collectable cards from a game called Magic: The Gathering.
The store has estimated the value of the goods stolen at $15,000.
That includes one card worth $6,700, according to Wry.
The card would be difficult to sell because it is so rare, said Wry.
The store has put the video footage of the robbery on its Facebook site, and is asking anyone with information to contact the Codiac RCMP.
