Liberal Dominic LeBlanc soars to victory in Beausejour

Liberal MP Dominic LeBlanc was easily successful in his attempt to win a sixth straight election in the riding of Beausejour.

Liberal MP Dominic LeBlanc was easily successful in his attempt to win a sixth straight election in the riding of Beausejour.

LeBlanc was declared elected after capturing 72 per cent of the vote with 20 of 217 polls reporting in the Liberal stronghold.

LeBlanc was elected in 2000 and has been re-elected in each campaign.

There are four candidates running in Beausejour: Conservative Ann Bastarache, NDP candidate Hélène Boudreau, Liberal candidate Dominic LeBlanc and Green candidate Kevin King.

The high-profile Liberal candidate lured Justin Trudeau to the riding to announce the party would scrap the controversial changes to the Employment Insurance program made by Stephen Harper's government.

He has had former prime minister Jean Chretien visit the area during the campaign.
