Acadia Axemen win bronze medal 7-3 over St. Francis Xavier X-Men at U Cup
Axemen maintained lead all through the game
The Acadia Axeman won the battle between two Nova Scotia universities to see which team will take home the bronze medal at the national university hockey championship.
Acadia Axemen of Wolfville, N.S beat the St. Francis Xavier X-Men, of Antigonish, N.S., 7-3.
At the beginning of the third period the Axemen lead the X-Men 6-2. Nathan Pancel of the X-Men scored a goal to make it 6-3 but team couldn't get anymore goals by Axeman goalie Robert Steeves.

Taylor Makim scored the seventh goal for the Axeman on power play at 19:44 to make the final score 7-3
The X-Men scored twice in the second period with goals by Sam Studnicka and Eric Locke. The Axeman's Michael Clarke scored two goals in the first period. Four goals were scored in the second period with singles from Boston Leier and Liam Maaskant and a pair from Daniel Pettersson.
The teams lost their chance to play for the gold medal after losing their semi-final games on Saturday.
The Axemen were beat 3-0 by the hosting University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds, who held the No. 5 seed entering the national championship, on Saturday before a hometown crowd in Fredericton.
The X-Men lost 8-0 on Saturday to the sixth-ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies.
The Varsity Reds and Huskies will play for the gold medal at 1 p.m.
