Drivers who use Highway 720 East and take the Ville-Marie tunnel under downtown Montreal are about to face new traffic woes.

Construction will lead to intermittent closures, detours for Montreal drivers

The roadwork is part of the Turcot Interchange redevelopment project.

Drivers who use Highway 720 East and take the Ville-Marie tunnel under downtown Montreal are about to face new traffic woes.

Transports Québec has announced the eastbound lanes of the tunnel will be closed to traffic at night "intermittently" until 2017.

The closures will be periodic, and motorists will be redirected to detours through residential streets.

Transports Québec could not provide the exact dates of the road closures, but the ministry urges drivers to check the 511 Québec website.
