The Collège de Valleyfield's main campus and library will be closed all day Friday after someone attacked an employee with a knife. Police arrested a suspect on the scene.

Sûreté du Québec officers were called on campus at around 6:15 a.m. following the attack. The victim was injured and taken to hospital but her life is not in danger.

The suspect was taken to hospital for "treatment appropriate to his condition," police said in a news release.

They say they will interview him when his condition permits.

Firefighters were also on the scene.

Police have set up a security perimeter on the campus west of Montreal and is investigating the causes and circumstances surrounding the attack.
