Man shot dead outside Terrebonne home
Witnesses called police after gunfire heard in quiet residential neighbourhood Sunday
Quebec provincial police are investigating after a 42-year-old man was found dead outside a home in Terrebonne Sunday night.
The victim has been identified as Éric Chabot. He is known to police, though a Sûreté du Québec spokesperson declined to say in what capacity.
Police were called after witnesses heard gunfire at around 10:30 p.m. on Asselin Street near Ubald-Chartrand Street in the Lachenaie district.
Local police handed the investigation over to provincial police and a special investigation unit is now on the scene with a command post.
Neighbours told CBC News Chabot was active in the community.
The SQ is collaborating with local police and anybody with information about the death is encouraged to contact authorities, Sgt. Claude Denis said.
