Boy, 16, dies after altercation in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que.
Quebec police investigating, say suspect or suspects fled area before officers arrived

The Sûreté du Québec is investigating the death of a 16-year-old boy in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, located roughly 40 kilometres southeast of Montreal.
The victim was Gabriel Mena Cruz, Radio-Canada has learned.
SQ spokesperson Ève Brochu-Joubert said the teen was injured during an altercation involving at least one other person on Thursday evening.
Officers with the local police force were called to the scene at around 10:15 p.m. and quickly put in place a safety perimeter. The victim was rushed to hospital, where he later died.
Police would not reveal the nature of the victim's injuries, only describing them as "serious."
The suspect or suspects, Brochu-Joubert said, had left the area before police arrived.
The file has since been transferred to the SQ.
Investigators, technicians from the forensic identification team and a canine unit were in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu on Friday morning as the investigation continues.
