Three Montreal school boards have confirmed their teachers and support staff will go on strike on Monday Nov. 16 and Tuesday Nov. 17.

The Commission scolaire de Montréal, the Lester B. Pearson, and English Montreal school boards have sent notices to parents over the weekend informing them of the situation.

The strike will affect all schools and daycare services.

"Since our school board cannot guarantee that services will not be affected on the two days, all daycare services are cancelled. Therefore, there will be no school or daycare for students," the Lester B. Pearson School Board said in its note.

The strikes are being held in response to a lapse in contract negotiations between public sector workers and the Quebec government.

Several school boards have also voted to join in a three-day general strike of public-sector workers on Dec. 1, 2 and 3, if there is no progress in negotiations before that date. (More information here).
