Montreal's public transit corporation and the Quebec-based company Nova Bus are still trying to determine what caused Wednesday's bus fire in Dorval.

An STM bus on the 204 line caught fire before noon yesterday on the corner of Neptune Boulevard and Parkfield Avenue.

No one was injured, and firefighters managed to put out the fire, but it was the second bus fire in three months involving a Nova Bus.

Anne-Louise Chauvette, a spokesperson for the company, said the company is helping with the investigation.

"Security is a priority for us, for Nova Bus, so for sure we will collaborate with the STM to identify the problems," she said.

Chauvette said Nova Bus issued a recall on two models of buses last year, one of which was involved in another bus fire in April on the Ville-Marie expressway.

In that case, the STM said a faulty alternator was responsible.

But Chauvette says Nova Bus isn't to blame. She said the STM was in charge of repairing the recalled alternator.

The STM did not agree to an interview request from CBC.
