St. Jacques exit reopens

Drivers in the city's west end are finally getting some traffic relief.

Roadwork continues throughout the city

The St. Jacques exit reopened Friday, but work continues on Decarie Boulevard.

Drivers in the city’s west end are finally getting some traffic relief.

The St. Jacques exit from Highway 720 reopened Friday.

The exit has been closed since February to accommodate work being done at the site of the English-language superhospital.

Thousands of drivers use the exit to get into neighbourhoods in the west.

The re-opening is a welcome relief for businesses owners in the area who said the work has cost them a considerable amount of traffic.

"I lost 70 per cent of my business," said Nassar Omar, owner of a car washing business on Decarie Boulevard.

Omar said he’d like to see the city pay for some advertising to let people know the businesses are still open.

Portions of Decarie remain under construction.

Work also continues on the Mercier Bridge, as well as the Turcot, Dorval and Saint Pierre interchanges.
