Southwest borough launches compost program
A $50,000 composting program that started this week is the first of its kind in Montreal.
Montreal's Southwest borough launched a new free composting program this week.
Drop-off points:
- Parc Jacques-Couture
- Parc Gédéon-De Catalogne
- Parc Polyvalente Saint-Henri
- Parc David-Lefebvre
- Parc Clifford
- Parc Campbell-Ouest
- Place Holy Cross et Drake
- Parc Sammy-Hill
- Parc Joe-Beef
- Parc des Cheminots
City councillor Véronique Fournier said residents can pick up a free bin and take it to their homes, fill it up with compost and then drop it off at one of several collection centres.
Fournier said the borough invested $50,000 in the project, which is the first of its kind in the city.
She said a door-to-door composting trial in the Southwest’s Ville-Emard neighbourhood was very popular.
The compost will be sent to an industrial collection site in the Lanaudière region.
