Scorpion found in grocery store fruit container

Clients shopping in the fruit aisle of a Super C grocery store in Thetford Mines, Que. got quite a scare Thursday when they discovered a scorpion in a container of blackberries.

Clients shopping in the fruit aisle of a Super C grocery store in Thetford Mines, Que. got quite a scare Thursday when they discovered a scorpion in a container of blackberries.

Super C spokeswoman Geneviève Grégoire confirmed the incident and said store officials immediately informed the berry supplier in Mexico, which exported the fruits.

Experts say finding insects and small animals on foods in supermarkets is not uncommon.

It’s not known whether the scorpion was alive or dead at the time customers discovered it.
