Saint-Michel Metro station reopens today after month-long shutdown
Service at the station will resume at 10 a.m. on Monday
After being closed for than a month, the Saint-Michel Metro station will reopen Monday as of 10 a.m.
On Oct 3., the Montreal transit authority shut down that station as well as two others on the Blue line — Fabre and d'Iberville — after engineering teams found significant degradation of the main beams above the walkway at the Saint-Michel station.
The Fabre and d'Iberville closures were necessary "given the location of track equipment needed for train turnarounds," the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) said at the time.
Six days later, those two stations were reopened, but Saint-Michel station remain closed.
On Monday morning, the STM said in a statement that work has since been carried out on two beams under the main staircase at the Saint-Michel station, which is located above the train tracks.
The shuttle bus service that had been put in place to compensate for the closure will end as of 11 a.m.
