Quebec provincial police are continuing their investigation into a brazen daylight attack on a high-ranking member of the Rizzuto crime syndicate Tuesday in Laval.

Lorenzo "Skunk" Giordano, 52, was fatally shot in the parking lot of Carrefour Multisports in the Chomedey area of Laval.

A spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec wouldn't offer more information Wednesday about the ongoing investigation.

During the Charbonneau commission, Giordano was described as an "underboss" in the Rizutto crime family.

Giordano was arrested during Operation Colisée in 2007 along with almost 100 suspected mobsters.

He was sentenced in 2009 to 10 years and three months in prison. He was released in December 2015.
