Officials in the North Shore municipality of Saint-Eustache are asking people to be on the lookout for a python.

The snake went missing from its home on Landry Street, which is east of Arthur-Sauvé Boulevard.

The python is orange and beige in colour and is about 80 centimetres long.

"It is not a venomous snake, and its bite is not dangerous," city officials said in a written statement.

Anyone who sees the snake should call police at 450-974-5300 or the city's animal control service Patrouille Canine GL at 450-434-9702.

This is the second time in recent weeks that a python has escaped in the greater Montreal area.

Last month, a python went missing in Verdun. It has still not been found.
