Projet Montréal, the official opposition party at City Hall, is calling for a moratorium on oil transportation by rail in the Montreal region.

The passage of an additional 220 tank cars as of 2017 has worried the borough councillor for Saint-Henri—Petite-Bourgogne—Pointe-Saint-Charles, where these cars go through.

Projet Montréal wants the Coderre administration to ask that the matter be investigated by the BAPE, a provincial public hearing bureau on environmental matters.
