Are you getting enough fresh fruits and vegetables? The NDG Food Depot is extending its Good Food Market through the winter.

Bonnie Soutar, the organization's director of development, confirmed the weekly Friday market will be indoors as of Oct. 23. The market offers fresh food including fall baked goods, live music and activities for children.

"It's going to be inside, so it's much cozier and warm," Soutar told CBC Montreal's Daybreak on Friday.

The Good Food Market serves both to provide affordable fresh produce and pay farmers a fair price for their food.

For families and individuals in need, there are discount membership cards available that are identical in appearance to regular membership cards, to ensure privacy.

"Our goal is to make good food more accessible for everyone," said Soutar.

The market is a non-profit initiative. The community organization also accepts donations.

"Youth and children in our community need your support," she said.

"We want them to have enough food for a healthy life."

The Depot provides emergency food baskets for between 600 and 800 people and prepares between 200 and 300 meals, all with fresh fruits and vegetables. It also supports community cooking, urban gardening and meal programs.

The Good Food Market is every Friday from 2 to 7 p.m. at the NDG Food Depot located at 2146 Marlowe Ave. in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce.
