One man is in hospital after he was injured during a drug raid this afternoon in Montreal North.

Officers arrived at an apartment building on Arthur-Chevrier Street just after 4 p.m. ET.

During the police operation, two suspects tried to flee the scene. That's when one of them was "hit by an intermediate weapon projectile," according to a statement by Montreal police.

The man was taken to hospital. The status of his condition is not yet known.

A total of 11 people were arrested in the drug investigation – 10 of them were inside the building at the time of the raid.

The other was arrested in Repentigny, off the eastern tip of Montreal

Police said they were all taken in for questioning and could possibly face charges of drug trafficking.

Officers remained on patrol in the area Thursday evening, even hours after the raid ended.
