Service is resuming slowly on the Montreal Metro system after a system-wide shutdown Thursday morning.

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) said the four lines of the Metro system went down because of an electrical equipment failure.

The problem began at 4:03 a.m., said the transit agency.

Service was expected to resume by 6:30 a.m. However some lines began running by 6:15 a.m.

More to come.
