William Shatner narrates new Montreal Expos documentary

The Montreal Expos are the focus of a new documentary narrated by William Shatner that celebrates the team's legacy as one of best-loved and more unusual teams in Major League baseball.

Produced by the MLB Network Presents, The Colorful Montreal Expos features interviews with former players Warren Cromartie, Andre Dawson, Tim Raines, Steve Rogers, Cliff Floyd, Pedro Martinez and Rondell White.

"The program focuses on how the unique culture, history and heritage of the Montreal Expos made it one of baseball's most distinctive franchises," a news release from the MLB Network said.

The documentary details the rise of the Expos in the late 1960s through the team's glory days in the late 1970s and early 1980s to their fabled yet ill-fated 1994 pennant run.

"It was colourful, it was alive, and people just loved the Expos," former Expos broadcaster Dave Van Horne says in the film.

Van Horne provides context alongside former Expos general manager Dave Dombrowski, the team's French-language broadcaster Rodger Brulotte, and journalists Michael Farber, Jonah Keri and Mitch Melnick.

The documentary also hears from Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre, who discusses the city's renewed interest in seeing major league baseball return to town.

The Colorful Montreal Expos airs Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 9 p.m.
