Police still seeking delivery truck driver after fatal hit and run
Montreal police say 76-year-old man killed at corner of Honoré-Beaugrand and Tellier streets
Montreal police say they are still looking for a delivery truck and its driver that were believed to be involved in a fatal hit and run Tuesday afternoon in Montreal's east end.
The incident happened at around 3:25 p.m. at the corner of Honoré-Beaugrand and Tellier streets.
FedEx said it co-operated with Montreal police, after one of its drivers was pulled over and questioned.
The driver and the vehicle were both released Tuesday evening "after it was determined they were not involved," said Fedex Express Canada spokesman James Anderson.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the pedestrian involved in this incident."
Police say a 76-year-old man was hit by what witnesses said was a delivery truck. Investigators are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
They say it is unclear if the driver knew he or she had hit someone.
"We are looking at a collision where the driver didn't stop. We want to talk to that driver," said Const. Jean-Pierre Brabant.
