She, along with her daughter Aïsha Cariotte Vertus, helped bring a dozen artists together for the fundraiser.

"I'm overwhelmed," said Cariotte of her daughter's involvement. "I don't even have the words to express how proud of her I am."

The event featured performances by artists including Kaytranada, Lou Phelps, Pierre Kwenders, FOXTROTT, Illa J, Nomadic Massive, Clay & Friends and Team GAYA.

Kaytranada performed at the event to support a cause he says is close to his heart.

"I want to help what's going on in Haiti. You know, I was born there and it's still part of my life even though I haven't been since I was four. I guess it was just the right thing to do."
