A charge has been dropped against a Montreal man accused of violating the terms of his terror-related peace bond.

Merouane Ghalmi, 22, signed the peace bond in March after the RCMP said it was concerned he posed a risk to public safety.

The conditions of the bond include restrictions on who Ghalmi can communicate with and require him to wear and electronic monitoring bracelet.

In May, he was charged with violating a condition that prohibits him from accessing content that promotes extremism or violence.

That charge was withdrawn in Quebec court yesterday. The conditions of the peace bond remain in effect.
