Merouane Ghalmi, a 22 year-old Montreal man the RCMP believes could commit a terrorist offence, appeared in court Friday afternoon accused of breaking one of the conditions of a peace bond he agreed to sign March 27.
Prosecutor Lyne Décarie said the condition Ghalmi is accused of breaking is "accessing, consulting or attempting to consult terrorist material using any means, or material which promotes violence or which promotes extremist or radical ideas, in whole or in part, for political, religious or ideological purpose, objective or cause".
Décarie refused to elaborate.
Ghalmi is now in detention and will appear in court Monday for a bail hearing.
