Man charged in Saint-Michel machete killing

A man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a killing that took place on Wednesday in Montreal's Saint-Michel neighbourhood.

A man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a killing that took place on Wednesday in Montreal's Saint-Michel neighbourhood.

Van Son Nguyen, 48, appeared in court via video conference on Saturday.

He is accused of attacking a man in his 40s with a machete in an apartment at the corner of Pie IX Boulevard and 51st Street.

Police said he will remain behind bars until his trial.

They do not know what motivated the attack or whether the two men knew each other.

The victim died on his way to the hospital.
