Hudson drunk-driving crash injures 2 young joggers

A woman in her 20s is in critical condition after being hit by a car while she was out jogging on Friday night.

A woman in her 20s is in critical condition after being hit by a car while she was out jogging on Friday evening.

The incident happened around 7:15 p.m. on Cambridge Street near Wilshire Street, in a wooded residential area of Hudson.

The man behind the wheel, also in his 20s, was arrested for impaired driving after he allegedly hit the woman and her partner before crashing into a Hydro pole.

Sgt. Ronald McInnis of the Sûreté du Québec said a fire started after the car hit the electric pole, but Hudson firefighters were able to extinguish it quickly.

Paramedics found the woman unconscious and suffering from major injuries. She remains in hospital in critical condition.

The man who was also hit by the car suffered minor injuries and has been discharged from hospital.

McInnis said the driver will remain in police custody over the weekend.
