Montreal, Quebec City hotel workers set to strike Friday

Montreal's Marriott Chateau Champlain only hotel to reach tentative deal
A mass walkout is scheduled to begin Friday at 11 hotels in Quebec City, Montreal and Sherbrooke, to increase pressure on the employers at the bargaining table.
The unions representing hotel employees, all affiliated with the CSN labour federation, have called for a three-day strike.
The hotels affected in Montreal include:
- Ritz-Carlton.
- Bonaventure.
- Lord Berri.
- des Gouverneurs.
- Place Dupuis.
- Hilton Laval.
- Holiday Inn Laval.
- Quality Suites Pointe-Claire.
The union is seeking increased wages, as well as improvements to severance and holiday pay.
Marriott Chateau Champlain settles
Montreal's Marriott Chateau Champlain struck a tentative agreement with its workers just ahead of the scheduled walkout.
The tentative agreement, announced Wednesday by the CSN, includes wage increases of three per cent over the first three years and a four per cent bump in pay in the final year.
