Seven male jurors and five female jurors have been selected from a pool of more than 1,600 potential jurors.
The trial is expected to last about three months.
Turcotte's first trial in 2011 ended with a jury finding him not criminally responsible for the deaths of his children, five-year-old Olivier and three-year-old Anne-Sophie.
The Crown appealed that verdict, and after arguing all the way to the Supreme Court, a new trial was ordered.
