Alleged victim in MNA sex-assault case meets with Quebec City police
Gerry Sklavounos now an independent MNA after leaving Liberal caucus
The woman who accused MNA Gerry Sklavounos of sexual assault, Alice Paquet, met with Quebec City police on Tuesday, allowing them to pursue their investigation into the incident.
The alleged assault happened in 2014 when Paquet met Sklavounos while working as a hostess in a Quebec City restaurant.
Paquet first went public with the allegation last week during a vigil for Laval University sexual assault victims, but initially didn't name her alleged assailant.
The next day she named Sklavounos, a Liberal MNA for Laurier-Dorion, as the man who allegedly assaulted her. Sklavounos has not been charged with any crime.
He left the Liberal caucus on Oct. 20. Sklavounos was the deputy house leader under Premier Philippe Couillard.
Marc Tanguay, the Liberal MNA for LaFontaine, was named Tuesday as the new deputy house leader.
Sklavounos has been absent from the National Assembly since the allegations surfaced.
His now sits as an independent.
