Vanier College is the latest educational institution to designate washroom gender-neutral for students who don't identify with either gender.

Fifteen washrooms across the college campus are now available for people of any sex or gender identity.

"Transgender, non-binary and gender non-conforming members of our community have the right to feel safe using the washroom," Vanier College said in a statement.

In a pamphlet about the washrooms, the college says that people who do not conform to the "look" of either men or women risk harassment and violence in gendered washrooms.

Vanier joins other colleges and universities who have designated gender-neutral washrooms.

McGill and Concordia universities have had them for a few years. Last year, Dawson College added a second such washroom.
