80-year-old woman killed after being hit by truck in Lachine

Montreal police received a 911 call at 10:50 a.m. about a collision that took place when the woman was crossing the road.

An 80-year-old woman is dead after being hit by a truck at the intersection of Notre-Dame Street West and Saint-Pierre Avenue in Lachine.

Montreal police received a 911 call at 10:50 a.m. about a collision that took place as the woman was crossing the road.

Police say the driver of the truck was headed northbound, waiting at the intersection, but accelerated and struck the woman before she made it across.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver, a 70-year-old man, was treated for shock.

Police are investigating.
