Daycare worker in assault trial denies charges

A Montreal daycare worker accused of sexually assaulting three children in his care has denied all abuse charges brought against him.

A Montreal daycare worker accused of sexually assaulting three children in his care has denied all abuse charges brought against him.

Alan Frederick James is on trial for several counts of sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching, connected to five children who were aged three to five when they attended his wife's Snowdon daycare.

The 55-year-old British engineer has pleaded not guilty to three counts of interference.

In his testimony on Thursday, James told Quebec Court Judge Jean-Pierre Bonin that nothing of a sexual nature ever occurred under his supervision.

His alleged victims testified via video-link earlier this week, describing how "Daddy Alan" removed their clothes and touched them at the daycare, and during an outing to a shopping centre.

The alleged victims' identities are protected by a court order.

James worked in his wife's Fun Times Home Daycare, because he couldn't find an engineering job due to language barriers.

The case will resume next week with closing arguments.
