Quebec's Health Ministry says a data transmission error prevented some new COVID-19 cases from being recorded over the Thanksgiving long weekend, pushing up daily totals that had been seen as reason for cautious optimism.
On Wednesday, the province added 359 cases that were detected between Saturday and Monday to the total.
The Health Ministry says the transmission problem has since been resolved.
The new daily case numbers are 980 on Saturday, 1,056 on Sunday and 923 on Monday. The additional cases mean the seven-day rolling average is now 1,011 daily cases, instead of 960.
Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 88,994 confirmed cases in the province.
