CBC Montreal and West Island Community Shares team up for another season of giving
Live broadcasts from Pointe Claire, CBC Sing-In among events for "Light up our Community" Campaign
CBC Montreal and West Island Community Shares invite you to light up our community this holiday season.
The charity and public broadcaster are working together on an annual Christmas charity drive, which runs from Nov. 28 - Dec. 31, 2017. This will be CBC's second year supporting the organization.
West Island Community Shares is an umbrella organization which supports 41 other charities in the West Island including youth and family services, three food banks, health and mental health services, volunteer organizations and more.
Live from Plaza Pointe-Claire
In addition to sharing stories about the different charities WICS supports, CBC Montreal will also be out and about in the West Island.
On Friday, Dec. 1, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., join CBC Montreal live from Plaza Pointe Claire for a day of music, stories and giving.
The event starts at 11 a.m. with a meet and greet with Daybreak host Mike Finnerty as well as a special story time with Nantali Indongo and CBC Kids' "Bookaboo".
At 12 noon, Shawn Apel, host of Radio Noon, will be broadcasting live, followed by Sue Smith, host of Homerun (3 to 6 p.m.).
Then join Debra Arbec for a special CBC Montreal News from 6 to 7 p.m. Follow us throughout the day on Twitter @CBCMontreal and at cbc.ca/montreal where you can listen live.
Stop by CBC's "light up our community pop-up lounge" for holiday raffle draws, kids activities and a CBC Montreal video booth to record your holiday greetings. The lounge is located right across from Swiss Vienna Pastry.
Meet CBC personalities including Sabrina Degni from The Great Canadian Baking Show, who will be at the plaza from 3- 4 p.m. decorating a gingerbread house and other Christmas-themed baked goods.
CBC Montreal will also be competing in a Christmas tree decorating competition, so be sure to visit the WICS website after Dec. 1 to vote on your favourite tree.
West Island Community Shares volunteers will also be on hand collecting donations.
On Saturday, Dec. 9, come visit Santa and the West Island Community Shares team at Plaza Pointe Claire. Kids can have their photo taken with Santa and enjoy hot chocolate, games and other activities. West Island Community Shares and CBC Do Crew volunteers will be on hand to collect donations for the Light up our Community campaign. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
CBC Christmas Sing-In Concert

Advance ticket sales for the CBC Sing-In Concert on Sunday, Dec. 10th are now complete. No additional advance tickets are available.
There will be a very limited number of tickets on the day of the concert. We are giving these away on a first come/first served basis starting at 12:30 pm., Sun, Dec. 10th.

ATTEND A SIMILAR EVENT: The Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul holds Carols by Candlelight on Sunday, Dec 17th at 7 p.m. is another opportunity for you to hear the Sing-In Choir, organist with a similar holiday repertoire.
On Sunday, Dec. 10, join us for the city's biggest and oldest sing-along: the CBC Christmas Sing-In.
A beloved tradition since 1980, the Sing-In presents best-loved carols in spectacular arrangements for choir, organ, brass and percussion, with an audience of 1,500 singing along.This year's edition takes place at 3 p.m. at the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul and neighbouring Bourgie Hall (connected by larger-than-life HD simulcast). Doors open at 2.
CBC personalities on hand include co-hosts Katherine Duncan and Sean Henry, Mike Finnerty , Debra Arbec, Nantali Indongo and many more. We'll also be collecting voluntary cash donations for West Island Community Shares.
