Montreal police say they have recently transferred the investigation into the death of Clément Ouimet to Quebec's Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP).
The 18-year-old cyclist was fatally struck while biking on Camillien-Houde Way on Oct. 4.
Ouimet was on the southbound stretch of the road near the belvedere lookout when an SUV travelling ahead of him suddenly made an illegal U-turn, police say.
He was unable to stop and hit the vehicle. Ouimet was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The DPCP will now have to determine if there are grounds for charges against the 59-year-old driver of the SUV.
