Quebec Conservative MP says he is making the decision for 'personal' reasons
Christian Paradis has announced he will not run in the 2015 federal elections.
The Mégantic–L'Érable MP has more recently held the position of Minister of International Development and Minister for la Francophonie in Stephen Harper's cabinet.
The 41-year-old from Thetford Mines, Que. said the decision not to run again was a personal choice made with his family.
"We have come to the conclusion that after almost a decade of my being on the public stage, it's time for me to pass on the torch and move on serenely to write a new chapter in our lives," said the statement on his website.
Paradis said he would continue to serve his constituents until the end of his mandate.
Federal elections are scheduled for October 19.
