Families who send their children to daycare programs at Montreal's largest French-language school board will be paying more this fall.

The CSDM says it will increase the base fee on pedagogical days slightly from around $8 to $9.

The so-called "ped days" are used for training workshops and other professional development activities for teachers.

Some school boards are increasing their rate to $16.

They say they can't absorb all the costs of the service after the ministry of education scaled back funding for this fall.

The board chair of the CSDM says she wanted to limit the impact on families as much as possible.
